SHORELINE PROJECTS
Shoreline protection on the Great Lakes and Ontario's inland lakes. Armour stone revetments sourced direct from Ontario quarries, delivered to site, and placed by experienced operators.
LAKE ONTARIO - GRIMSBY
Bluff revetments along the Lake Ontario shoreline, averaging roughly 30 feet in height. Each section was excavated and graded to a 3 to 1 slope, lined with filter fabric, bedded on core stone, anchored with toe stone keyed below the lakebed, and faced with large armour stone built to take the full force of open-water waves.

LAKE ERIE
A large-scale shoreline armour stone project: approximately 175 tractor-trailer loads of stone, including about 7,500 tons of armour stone, 20,000 tons of large riprap and 30,000 tons of gabion stone.
HOW A REVETMENT IS BUILT
A revetment is built in layers, from the bottom up. The toe stone is set first, below the lakebed, because a revetment fails from the bottom. Core stone forms the bed, filter fabric keeps the bank from washing out through the stone, and the armour layer takes the wave impact. Cap stone locks the top of the slope.
WHAT A SHORELINE PROJECT COSTS
Shoreline work typically runs from about $500 to $20,000 per linear foot, depending on the scope of work, the height of the bank, the size of the lake and the wave exposure the site takes. Permit fees are extra. Every project is quoted after a site visit.
PERMITS
Shoreline work in Ontario typically requires approval from the local conservation authority before construction begins. We can help prepare and submit the application. Permit fees are the property owner's responsibility.
